On June 29th/30th, the Integrated Care for Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders research conference was held in the NYU Medical Center in New York City. The overarching goal of what was presented at the conference is to improve the health and mental health outcomes for AANHPIs (Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders).
The conference was guided on two principles:
- The firm belief that research isn’t just for researchers and everyone should have a voice.
- Recognizing the impact mental health has on the overall health and well being of the community.
The conference provided multiple points of views including community members providing personal stories about how their lives have been impacted and provider’s perspectives in coming up with strategies and programs to address the needs of this community. Conference activities included a video talk from congresswoman Judy Chu and breakout sessions focusing in various areas of the conference.
Attached are photos of the staff at SEA US-CT attending the conference.
